Languishing: Feeling Sad in Miami and South Florida
Who during the pandemic is feeling stuck in the middle, blah, disconnected, or completely unmotivated? Have you lost your sense of purpose, does nothing spark joy? Well, I have a word for you, “languishing,” you might not know what it is, but you certainly are feeling it.

So what is “languishing?” Not a lot of people are talking about this but as a collective, we are certainly feeling it; the sluggish state between depression and flourishing.
I’ve personally seen many of my patients experience this feeling over the last few months. Despite living in one of the most beautiful places in the country, people are suffering in a way they can’t put their finger on. Last week, I had a conversation with an incredibly dynamic patient of mine. This woman always lights up a room but lately, she hasn’t been her super dynamic, sparkly self. This is a classic example of languishing.
Keeping our mental health stable right now is crucial to getting through these uncertain times.
The good news is acupuncture, herbs, and East Asian Medicine, know languishing. Acupuncture is known to treat all the ramifications from the pandemic and being in quarantine- including languishing. In fact, acupuncture can do more than help with back pain, periods, skin, and other chronic illness, Traditional Chinese Medicine and even improve mental health.
I spent 10 years in an integrative practice with psychologists and psychiatrists. Regular, acupuncture, herbs, and lifestyle modification can drastically improve your well-being, improve your energy and help lift your spirits. Today, I continue collaborating with mental health practitioners on behalf of many of my patients.
I received this testimonial from one of my patients last week:
“I don’t know how to express my gratitude for having such a loving and caring medical team by my side. I will try and keep this simple with a huge Thank YOU!”
