What to Expect

Elizabeth specializes in women’s health, weight management, allergies, autoimmune diseases and environmental illnesses. Elizabeth’s approach to treating her patients is highly individualized and holistic. She starts with a lengthy initial appointment delving deep into the patient’s detailed health history and her physical and emotional circumstances. Elizabeth carefully listens to and builds a strong relationship with her patients in order to develop a clear and detailed picture of their overall health and unique needs.

During a typical first visit, Elizabeth will take a detailed health history, explore your personal goals, fully investigate your chief complaints, perform a physical examination and determine a differential diagnosis for you. From this, a treatment plan is designed and reviewed with you. This treatment plan may include acupuncture as well as other integrative medicine modalities. This initial visit will take between two and a half to three hours which is necessary to create an individualized treatment plan that addresses your unique health conditions and focusing on your main concerns and goals. This is purposefully done in order to minimize the frequency of subsequent visits. Treatments during follow-up visits will be adapted to your progress and will generally last between 75-90 minutes.

How many treatments will I need and how often will I need them?
The number of treatments needed varies from person to person. Some people experience significant improvement after one or two treatments, while others may take weeks or months to achieve lasting results. Chronic conditions generally take longer to resolve than acute ones, and the longer a patient has had a condition, the longer it usually takes to resolve. Other factors that influence the number of treatments needed include the severity of the problem and the patient’s lifestyle, overall health, and constitution.

Elizabeth should be able to give you an idea of how many treatments will be needed after she becomes familiar with your unique situation and needs. She may suggest one treatment per 1-2 weeks during the initial phases of treatment, and then less frequent treatments as the condition improves.

Ancient Wisdom for Modern Women
Women tend to be over treated in western medicine with little regard for the psycho-social and emotional environment in which they live. Elizabeth focuses her practice by engaging women in a less conventional path to better health. Women today face challenges vastly different from their mothers and grandmothers in terms of health and wellness. Yet it’s the history and wisdom of women and the traditions of Chinese medicine that coalesce to help heal today’s modern woman.
